ROOM 13 and the Okehampton Battle of the Bands are two of the latest groups to benefit from grants from

Okehampton United Charity.

At their April meeting, trustees of the United Charity awarded youth venue Room 13 a grant of £14,820 to allow the centre to continue running its weekend sessions.

The trustees also agreed the release of an additional £10,000 to contribute to the centre's rent for the 2014/15 financial year.

They also awarded £380 to the Battle of the Bands group to support the creation of a practice music room in the new OCRA sports pavilion.

Trustees of OUC awarded three group grants in May. Okehampton Duke of Edinburgh Group was awarded a grant of £1,000 to buy much needed ICT equipment and support.

Growing our Future was awarded £20,000 to contribute to the completion of the second stage of their eco-hub project.

The multi-purpose building is designed to be a centre of sustainability for West Devon.

The hub will store educational literature, tools, a computer system and host talks and activities once it is fully up and running. The main construction work on the building has been completed.

The Two Moors Festival received a grant of £3,200 to support the event. The charity has supported the festival since 2007.

Since January, the Okehampton Educational Foundation has made 16 individual grants to support students in Okehampton and its hamlets so they can continue with further education, sporting excellence and art excellence.
