TORRIDGE District Council has a vacancy for an independent representative to serve on its external overview and scrutiny committee, and for another representative to serve on its internal overview and scrutiny committee.
The role of these committees is to review and scrutinise decisions taken either by Torridge District Council, or by external public sector bodies and council services with an emphasis on the area of Torridge and its inhabitants. The external committee also acts as the crime and disorder scrutiny committee.
Monitoring officer John Edwards said: 'There are no formal qualifications required for the vacancies, but applicants should possess sound common sense and have a desire to do their best for the community.
'The external committee can scrutinise issues that might normally be dealt with by other organisations such as health and crime and disorder. It'll be an interesting role for someone.'
The positions do not attract a salary although reasonable travelling expenses will be paid.
