PUPILS from South Tawton Primary School recently won some of the top prizes in a county-wide 'Walk to School' competition.

Schoolchildren were asked to design a poster promoting environmentally friendly ways to travel, concentrating on the consequences of climate change on endangered species.

Ellie Smith was awarded overall county winner for children under 7, while Sebastian Ebner was joint winner in the older age group. Runners up were Marcus Reed, Tom Magowan, Yannick Ebner and Lewis Johns.

The children won book tokens for their colourful artwork and in recognition of the important messages that accompanied their posters.
