THE Walrus Group from Hatherleigh raised a grand total of £2,600 from their riverbank collections and raffles, in aid of organisations in and around the area.
They raised more than £700 on New Year's day when they took their traditional dip in the River Lew in Hatherleigh and held an Irish draw and raffle at the cricket club.
The group expressed thanks to all who have continued to support them and donated money which is given to local charities.
Member of the Walrus group Diane Bugden said: 'We are very proud to be able to give money towards local organisations but this would not be possible without people's support.
'There are others not always mentioned who have provided support over the years including the fire starters, the sound system providers, the hot toddy providers, the hot shower providers and of course the beverage providers.
'It is very much appreciated and we hope we provide a day of free family entertainment and are able to continue for many years to come.'
The Walrus group are looking for new members, dippers who are 18 years old and above and pups, who are a minimum of 16 years old.
