TORRIDGE District Council is asking its resident to be on the look out for bogus callers.
Residents of Taddiport near Torrington have reported door knockers from the 'Real Green Deal' who said that they needed to do an assessment of their cavity and loft insulation, and that the council would increase their council tax if the house was not energy efficient. They said they were working on behalf of the local authority.
The council has categorically stated this is not the case, and are warning residents across the district to be alert to such callers.
If any residents open their door to a caller pertaining to be from the 'Real Green Deal', or any other insulation or energy efficiency company, it is essential to insist on seeing bona fide credentials.
If in doubt, call Torridge's Housing team on 01237 428848 or contact your local authority if you live outside the Torridge district and have received such callers.
