CHRISTOPHER Denne said in the Times (June 13) that the EU has removed restrictions on movement of labour. I wonder if the unemployed will think it a good thing if, as expected, we will get an influx of people from Romania and Bulgaria looking for work in the UK when their countries enter the EU next year.

How short-sighted to build more and more houses on our already overcrowded island, increase the population and make us more dependant on our food supply from overseas.

What the people who support the EU do not tell you is that we buy more from the EU than we sell to them. Inside or outside the EU trade would still go on with the countries of Europe and around the world as we have done for centuries.

I naively voted to stay in what we thought was a common market in 1975. We all want to be friends and trade with the countries of Europe but not to be controlled by the unelected people that run the EU. The great British public is at last waking up to the fact that the EU is not only about free trade. We are being led into the United States of Europe as they gradually control more and more aspects of our lives. It is not too late to regain our sovereignty but soon, very soon, it will be.

REGARDING the letter from Mr Gasper (June 20) all it has done is to convince me even more that I am correct in my posture on Europe.

I have never read the Mail, Express or even the Guardian, I just have to read letters from people like Mr Gasper, Mr Denne and Sir Graham Watson to realise how deep our politicians have embroiled us into this anti-UK stupidity.

Germany and France have said on numerous occasions that they are working for a much closer union to protect the 'One Size Fits All' Euro.

But you needn't worry gentlemen, because even if we get a yes vote to leave this madness, our politicians are so incompetent they wouldn't be able to sort it out as most of them have turned native anyway. They must look after the gravy train first and our country last, as they have done for over 30 years.
