Okehampton Camera Club's fourth annual exhibition celebrated its gala opening — and received the seal of approval from the town mayor Kay Bickley, who praised the standard and the varied subject matter.

The mayor joined club members and invited guests as they enjoyed the images currently on display at the town's Museum of Dartmoor Life's John Young gallery. She said it was lovely to see such a wealth of talent in a local group.

The club's publicity officer Tracey Norman said the evening had been a great success: 'The standard of work being exhibited is very high and covers a wide spectrum of interests — there's definitely something to interest everyone.

'This year, the images are available for purchase, so if you see something you like, you'll be able to take it home with you.'

The entrance fee to view the exhibition is £1.50 (separate admission charges apply for the museum) and it runs until October 30.
