A HATHERLEIGH volunteer fundraising group has raised £4,500 for Cancer Research UK with a 1920s-themed ball.
Further proceeds raised by Hatherleigh Pink Ladies are going to three other local charities. The evening included a champagne reception and three-course meal, as well as entertainment, raffle and an auction.
Sophie O'Connor, Cancer Research UK's area volunteer manager for North Devon, said: 'The Hatherleigh Pink Ladies are an absolute inspiration and we can't thank them enough for their continued support and dedication.
'Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses.'
The Pink Ladies are already planning the 2015 ball, this time with a Bollywood theme. The ball will be held on Saturday, September 5.
Tickets for the ball must be booked in advance and cost £50 each. Early reservation is recommended as bookings will be dealt with on a first come first served basis.
