TRANSPLANT patient Wendy Sincock is celebrating, after winning four gold medals in the British Transplant Games in Bath.

Wendy, from Spreyton, joined more than 700 competitors from all over the country when she took part in the games at the end of August.

Wendy, who is a member of the Exeter and District Transplant team, was joined by eight other members and 18 supporters at the event.

Wendy, 50, said: 'The games were very well run and we all had a brilliant time.

'I took part in three swimming events — 50 metres front crawl and backstroke and 100 metres front crawl.

'I won three golds and I was absolutely delighted — there were heats and I didn't know where I came until my name was called out for the medal ceremony.

'I also went on to win a gold the following day, so four out of four isn't bad!'

Between them, the Exeter and district team members won eight gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

Wendy added: 'I was also awarded the St. Peter's trophy for the best swimmer in the female age category, which was presented at the gala dinner with 750 people attending.'

Wendy said it was 'a lovely surprise' to be awarded the cup.

'Our team effort was truly courageous and we are all so pleased,' she said.

Wendy expressed thanks to everyone for their continued help and support.

She added: 'A special thank you to the Exeter Kidney Patients Association for their donation of £50 for each transplant patient.

'But most of all to the donor families — without these wonderful families we would not be here today.'
