TWO local hotels are celebrating award success after winning a brand new award developed by VisitEngland.

Beera Farmhouse in Milton Abbot and Tor Cottage, Chillaton, are two of 100 recipients of the new prestigious Recognition of Service Excellence award (ROSE).

The ROSE?award was designed to showcase establishments that provide the warmest of welcomes.

The 100 recipients include accommodation providers – places where the owners, managers and staff ‘go that extra mile’ for their customers, irrespective of their star rating, style or type of accommodation.

Hilary Tucker, owner of Beera Farmhouse said: ‘I have been doing bed and breakfast at the farm for 17 years now, so feel very honoured to have received this award.’

As well as the new ROSE award, Tor Cottage in Chillaton have also won The Good Hotel Guide Editor’s choice award for romantic hotels.

Maureen Rowlatt from Tor Cottage said that she is very pleased to have won both awards.

She added: ‘It is good to know that we are still getting it right for our guests.’

VisitEngland’s chief executive James Berresford said: ‘Our new ROSE awards focus on areas of excellence that all businesses can aspire to, aiming to provide inspiration to all. Celebrating those who go that extra mile by raising standards, they will no doubt encourage others to raise their game.’
