THE?Romans 'invaded' Shebbear College last week!

Year 4 pupils were treated to a visit from members of the Royal Albert Museum, Exeter — and Ancient Briton arrived in a fluster with a warning that the Romans were about to invade!

The children had to decide whether they should stand and fight or accede to the might of the Roman army and become Roman citizens.

A fearsome soldier from the 2nd Augusta Legion then appeared and put them through their paces.

They learned to form a Testudo with their shields and how to march into battle.

The climax of the day was a mock battle between Romans and Britons.
