I WAS delighted to hear the Planning Inspectorate's decision to approve the nine turbine wind farm at Den Brook.  This low carbon renewable energy source will produce the equivalent of half the annual electricity needs of the borough.  Unfortunately it is no thanks to our MP or council that this fantastic facility will be located in West Devon – their opposition to this development has contributed to the years wasted as the planning application was needlessly dragged through appeal after appeal.

Instead of continuing its dependence on fossil fuels, West Devon has huge potential for clean energy production particularly through wind and biomass technologies.

We can only hope that the urgency of the climate crisis will eventually register with our elected representatives.

If they are asked to consider similar developments in future I hope they will take into account the needs of the planet and future generations and not just the interests of nimbys.
