A WOMAN had to be cut from their car following an accident just outside Sourton on the A386 this morning (January 15).
Two fire appliances from Okehampton were mobilised at 7.24am following a request from police for assistance with a two vehicle traffic collision. The accident left one woman trapped in her vehicle. Police closed the road in both directions during the accident recovery.
Shortly after arriving fire crews set to work stabilising the vehicle before attempting to rescue the woman. Crews managed to remove the casualty from her vehicle by carrying out a roof removal using hydraulic cutting equipment before making both vehicles safe. The casualty was then transferred to hospital via air ambulance. There has been no indication as to whether the wintry conditions played a part in the accident.
