IT was Founder's Day at Black Torrington Primary last Friday, marking 175 years since its opening.

The day was filled with activities, including an open day at the school and a service at St Mary's Church, which was almost full.

After the service everyone went back to the school for refreshments laid on by the PTFA. A special cake was made and was cut by the eldest member who attended the school, Brian Down and the youngest member, Lily Frost.

Everyone had an enjoyable time, made all the more special by the news that the Ofsted inspector rated the school as 'Outstanding', following a visit two weeks ago.
