Buckley Cup
OPENING bowlers Dan and Tom Fogerty kept Spreyton in check for the first eight overs of Belstone's latest cup evening game, with only 26 runs being scored and two wickets falling.
Spreyton increased the scoring after that with Fitzroy (13) and Chapman (25 retired) playing well but their 20 overs ended with only a modest 90 runs on the board as Ryan Dennis picked up two more cheap wickets.
It was fairly even after eight overs of the Belstone reply when their total was 33-2, but then 19 came from the next over as Jamie Walker and Richard Drake hit the accelerator before both retiring with 25, leaving Sam Ewen (21 not out) to finish a convincing eight wicket win for the visitors with more than four overs to spare.
Friendly
Belstone v Harberton
HARBARTON travelled to Rew Meadow for a Sunday friendly played in baking-hot conditions and began well with an opening partnership of 48 between Scott (17) and Veole (29).
However, once Dan Fogerty (7-2-17-2) accounted for them both wickets began to fall regularly as Ryan Dennis (6-3-7-0) tied up one end and occasional bowler Phil Woods picked up a wicket with his first ball of the summer. Only Waller, with 17 not out made much impression in the lower order, but the final total of 138-7 was boosted by a generous helping of 29 extras.
In reply most of the Belstone batsmen reached double figures beginning with an opening stand of 39 between George Whitmarsh (five boundaries in 23) and Scott Tremain (32). Leg-spinner Waller chipped in with three wickets but a six wicket Belstone win was sealed when Harry Bushin (four fours and two sixes in 36) and Matt Dennis (16 not out) added 45 for the fourth wicket.
Friendly
Belstone v Moretonhampstead
BELSTONE rushed to a six wicket win in a T20 friendly against Moretonhampstead, taking only ten overs to pass the visitors' total of 88-6 from their full 20 overs.
Moretonhampstead started very well with 12 coming off the first over as Hill raced to 28 with three boundaries and two sixes before he had to retire. From then on the scoring rate fell right back with Cox (22) the only other batsman to reach double figures as Ryan Dennis proved a real handful, taking three middle order wickets for four runs in his three overs.
Richard Drake got Belstone's reply off with a typically aggressive 24, Sam Ewen (26 retired) carried on at nine an over and business was finished as 20 runs came off the winning over with Ryan Dennis ending proceedings with a six.
