South Zeal 9
Central FC 3
TOP of the table South Zeal entertained at the Recreation Ground a Central FC side parading new signings.
The game started with the home side in the ascendancy, moving forward and attacking with flair.
Harley Cann and Ryan Dennis were the providers of some promising early attacks for the home side; however, Central were not to be pushed aside, with the said new signings being positive and showing some good skills. Only a lack of a clinical finish stopped the Zeal side from falling behind in the first 20 minutes.
Captain Harvey Cann seized the bull by the proverbial horns. His tenacity in the centre of the park soon led to Adam Clark opening the scoring after 25 minutes, thanks to a mistake from Central's stand in goalkeeper.
Central though continued to play positive and direct football, causing some disruption to the Zeal defensive machine.
A clumsy challenge in the penalty area gifted the visitors a penalty kick but it was saved by Eddy Jones diving to his left.
Captain Cann directed his troops in a uncompromising manner. The players were clearly stirred into action and netted two further goals before half time, thanks to Cann himself and the pacey Ryan Dennis.
Zeal played down the slope in the second half. Kieran Anderson for the home side pounced to make the score 4-0 in favour of the now marauding Zeal side before the visitors replied with a goal.
Adam Clark netted his second for Zeal before new signing Andrew Hooper hit the sixth.
Central FC hit two more but Harley Cann netted three further goals as South Zeal therefore remain at the top of the table as the only undefeated side.
