POINT-to-point racehorse enthusiasts will be pleased to see their sport getting back on track, with Spooners and West Dartmoor hosting the Cherrybrook event on Sunday, April 9.

There are six scheduled races with the first due off at 1pm with the Condy Mathias-sponsored members race, in which local trainer Verity Nicholls looks to hold the trump card with Dicky Bob, who won this race last season and followed that up with a hunter chase win at Exeter.

The Langdon Transport-sponsored mixed open is the feature race of the day, in which Jepeck from the Kayley Woollacott team is another course specialist who loves this track. Under jockey Jamie Thomas, Jepeck won the winners only mixed open race at Buckfastleigh in February. His main rival could be entry Polisky, for the Chloe Roddick team, he won a hunter chase at Ascot last season under top female jockey Bryony Frost when in training with Paul Nicholls.

The Subaru-sponsored restricted race could go the way of Air Glider for the Dean Sumersby team if coming out well from last weekends’ race at Cotley when he was held into second by Culverwell. Ballyristeen could be the main danger, owned by local owners Tony and Eileen Worth.

The Rock Inn-sponsored confined race could go the way of another Dean Summersby inmate in Rockinrolldixie who could add to his two Wadebridge wins this season for leading area jockey Darren Edwards.

Exeter Racecourse sponsor the intermediate race which has attracted an entry from Essex based Excitable Island.

The Tyre Marks-sponsored open maiden race has attracted 24 entries, in which both recent winners Wallabrook and Wind Tor also from the Ed Walker team catch the eye. Entry Ruby Fool who has had to settle for runner up on a few occasions, deserves a win soon for the Richard Mitford-Slade team.
