THERE was a large field competing in an individual medal competition for the President's Trophies at Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday.

The winner of the President's Handicap Shield was James Stacey with a nett 62 and Chris Hurley won the President's Scratch cup with a gross 74.

Winner of division one was Norman Heslop nett 65 winning on the back nine from Steve Browne in second place; in third place was Paul Rattenbury nett 66. Division two winner was Dave Grimes nett 65; second place went to Paul Rogers nett 67, in third place was Mark Howell nett 68.

James Stacey won division three and the President's Handicap Shield with nett 62; second place was Peter Howell nett 65 just ahead on the back nine from Roger Halliday in third place.

On April 29 despite the dismal forecast the sun shone and no fewer than 24 clubs took part in our Ladies Delaney Texas Scramble Open.

With the course looking as beautiful as ever and nothing to dampen the spirits everyone was up for a great day's golf.

The overall winners from Downes Crediton and Okehampton were Doreen Warren, Marina Caston and Jane Warren and in second place were Mo Huggins, Lorna Rolfe and Linda Baker from Ashbury.

Best visitor prize went to Lucy Lacey, Helen Soper and Helen Huxam from Exminter and best combination prize went to Sue Stanbury, Val Dodsworth and Kath Farrant from Okehampton and Weston Super Mare.

Val also achieved her first ever hole in 'one' on the 15th.
