Bridestowe v Kingsbridge

BRIDESTOWE edged past Kingsbridge in a close game at Millaton. The Kingsbridge innings started well through James Fletcher (64) and Freddie Ford (45) who put on 119 for the first wicket.

Alex Jopling eventually broke the partnership with the wicket of Fletcher and a direct hit run out from Jack Hatton removed Ford soon after. The visitors’ innings fell away from there with Alex Jopling (1-10), Ryan Dennis (1-26) and Gary Sizmur (3-24) containing well.

Kingsbridge finished on 203 all out, with a wicket from the final ball of the innings.

James Ewen (16) and Gary Sizmur (23) put on 36 before the former was run out attempting an optimistic two.

Bridestowe then fell to 48-4 with Neal Peach (2-33) picking up a couple of wickets.

The Bridestowe middle order played them back into the game with Phil Hatton (42), Jack Hatton (32), and Pat Ewen (28) all contributing well.

Bhanu De Silva (5-23) picked up regular wickets but the other Kings bowlers struggled to stem the flow of runs. Bridestowe collapsed again from 191-6 to 196-9, with eight runs still needed for victory from the final pair.

Alex Jopling (9 not out) hit a couple of boundaries to seal the closest of wins for Bridestowe.
