Buckley Cup

Belstone v Sticklepath

THE second Buckley Cup local derby in two weeks between these sides followed roughly the same course as the first with nine-man Sticklepath struggling to post a competitive score and ten-man Belstone knocking off the required runs in quick time for the loss of only one wicket.

Jim Mawle for Sticklepath was bowled by the fifth ball of the innings from Tom Boother for a duck. At the other end skipper Julian Baker survived four dropped chances before he was fifth out for 18, bowled by Matt Dennis with the score on 32.

Wickets continued to fall regularly, with six different bowlers sharing the spoils, with only Steve Grainger (11 not out) and extras (17 wides) reaching double figures in a total of 63 for eight, compared to 67-9 two weeks ago.

Belstone opener Sam Palmer was stumped by Baker off Hannant for a golden duck but this was Sticklepath’s only success as Tom Fogerty (28 retired), Jamie Walker (19 not out) and Boother (9 not out) reached the target in just 8.1 overs.
