BRIDESTOWE firsts got back to winning ways at Kingsbridge. The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first on a blustery day.

Chris Lavis bowled an excellent opening spell, but Dan Fogerty (3-31) struggled with the slope early on. Brandon Horn (1-42) also found it hard to find any accuracy but did pick up the important wicket of Westlake (25). Ryan Dennis (1-35) bowled accurately and removed James Ford for 15.

Freddie Ford (78) and Ashley Treeby (51) then put on 92 as the Bridestowe bowlers struggled to make a breakthrough. Matt Dennis (2-38) finally removed Treeby, followed by Bertie (3) thanks to sharp catches by Lavis and Pat Ewen.

Ford kept the runs flowing with Grose (19) but Dan Fogerty slowed the run rate by taking three wickets in his second spell. Kingsbridge finished on 248-8 from their 45 overs, helped by 40 extras.

Bridestowe started well through James Ewen (98no) and Ryan Dennis (10) until the latter was adjudged lbw to Rosewarne (1-41). Matt Dennis (4) was then bowled by de Silva (2-38) for 4.

Neil Griffiths (15) hit a few boundaries before he mistimed a shot off de Silva and was caught. At 69-3 Bridestowe were falling behind the required rate due to accurate bowling from Peach (0-35) and de Silva.

Chris Lavis (44) and James Ewen then put on 149 for the fourth wicket to bring the visitors back into the game. The pair ran well and put away the loose balls. Lavis was run out with 30 runs still required from five overs.

Pat Ewen (27no) then finished the game off in rapid time with a brutal ten ball innings including six boundaries.

James Ewen (98no) batted through the innings and was just short of his century when the target was reached.

Bridestowe won comfortably by six wickets with three overs remaining. Kingsbridge conceded a disappointing 51 extras, as they also struggled with the strong wind. It was a well timed chase from Bridestowe, and one which will give them confidence moving forwards.
