IT was a busy week for Tavistock Athletic Club who kicked off with the hosting of the Devon Open Series track and field meeting held at Tavistock College on Sunday.
Two hundred and thirty athletes from all over the region, and even as far away as Northern Ireland, turned up for a full programme of events.
The Devon Open Series is open to all ages and abilities from 8 years-old and above. There was a slight blustery wind around the track but generally the weather behaved itself and a great day was had by all with some fantastic performances.
Tavistock AC had the largest contingent of athletes with 58 juniors and seniors competing. For several this was their first experience of track and field competition but they all performed well with several winning their events, achieving personal bests or breaking club records.

This was the third in the four fixture series within which the Devon athletic clubs compete for the team trophy. Tavistock currently sit in second position behind North Devon AC.
The last fixture in the series takes place at Braunton on Sunday, August 14.
