THE Devon Men Veteran Golfers’ Association launches its 2016 season on April 29 at Tavistock Golf Club, the home club of its president, Peter Anglis.
This popular competition has attracted senior golfers from 37 clubs across Devon with 58 three man teams, 174 players, competing for The President’s Salver.
The DMVGA, now in its 46th year, is open to all male golfers over the age of 60 who are members of associated clubs in Devon.
The most prestigious competition the association organises is the inter-club Emerton-Court Trophy knockout. This year 36 club have entered the contest playing as teams of five pairs on a home and away basis with the final at Churston in early October.
DMVGA runs a number of competitions throughout the season which are played at different courses across the county. These include three club team events and three individual events as well as representative matches against Cornwall, Kent, Devon Juniors and Devon Lady Vets. The season concludes with the Captain’s Invitation and AGM which this year is held at the home course of Captain Stuart MacKerrell, Dainton Park.
