LAUNCESTON Road Runners hosted another successful Treggy 7 road race on Sunday, September 6.
The sun shone as over 360 runners assembled in Launceston town square to the sound of a local piper for the off. After a fast downhill start, the race followed an undulating route out towards Tregadillet, a very steep ascent into the village itself before a gentle return to the town and a final sprint to the finish line on the Castle green.
Okehampton Running Club sent a contingent of runners to the event, with Roger Voaden taking a step back from his usual marathon distance to lead the ORC runners home followed by his running partner, Paul Carter. Jo Fletcher recovered from her efforts at the recent RAT ultra marathon to be the first ORC lady home and Christine Fritsch was delighted to get her race tactics right to get a much faster time than last year.
The ORC times were: Roger Voaden 43.56 (2nd MV50), Paul Carter 45.38, Jo Fletcher 58.11, Christine Fritsch 1.04.14, Amanda Miguel-Lopes 1.06.21, Angela Hatten 1.19.50.
Bere Alston Trekkers sent a dozen runners to the event. First BAT home and 17th overall was steve Hill with Sally Dunn being first lady BAT home. Coincidentally both were 4th in their respective age categories. Julia Page ran a four minute personal best.
