TAVYSIDE Badminton are celebrating after a successful first year of club badminton.

Playing out of Tavistock Community Sports Centre (Tavistock College), last season Tavyside Badminton entered a medley team into the Plymouth and District Badminton League. It won through to the quarter finals of the local cup competition and had some notable successes in the local league tournaments.

In addition the Tavyside Badminton juniors impressed and took home a number of trophies from the local Junior Badminton Tournament.

Tavyside Badminton coach juniors on a Saturday morning and a number of the juniors this last season played in the league up against far more experienced players. The juniors were totally un-phased by the opposition and the medley team were able to finish the season having won two out of the six matches they played.

The Tavyside Badminton coaching team form an important part of the club set up and a number of the junior players have gone on to take their UKCC level one assistant badminton coach certificates.
