OKEHAMPTON Smallbore Club held the Devon round of the National 20 yard air pistol inter county competition at their indoor range last week.

Jason Ponsford from North Tawton was the Okehampton Club's representative in 'B' Team. Jason has enjoyed shooting air pistol at the club for 10 years and recently has also taken up prone rifle at the club.

Devon County submitted an 'A' team of Simon Bates, Nigel Dudley, Roger Cudmore, Jeremy Grant and Mike Wannel. Also a B team of Robert Beard, Chris Burrow, Jason Ponsford, Bernard Rendle and Orme Vince.

The competition consisted of each team member shooting three targets from the standing position at 20 yards, firing ten shots at each target. Targets from counties all over the country are then sent to the National Smallbore Rifle Association headquarters for scoring, with the highest score winning. The 2012 competition runs from January to 30 September, so our Devon Teams are eagerly awaiting the results!

The evening was rounded off by a supper at the club for everyone, kindly organised by Di Johnson, the Okehampton Club secretary. Thanks go to the range officer Yvonne Rendle.
