FOLLOWING up on the last two years of successful competition the Okehampton area Adult Indoor Cricket six-a-side league is about to bowl the first ball of the 2014 season.

Games will be on a Thursday evening starting on March 20 and then into April.

The format is that each team can bat for up to 10 overs and every player (except the wicketkeeper) bowls one to three overs each. Batsman must retire on 25 but can re-enter.

Fielding and running are key in the limited space; a batsman scores two runs if they make a run wicket to wicket; one run for hitting a side or the back wall behind the keeper; score four if the ball does not touch the ground and hits the end wall or six if the ball does hit the ground and hits the end wall.

Stuart Lord of Active Villages/OCRA said: 'It's a great game to sharpen up skills before the cricket season begins.'

Cost will be £16 a team per game and teams will need to provide somebody who can umpire and score.

Players must be age 15 plus.
