TAVISTOCK looked well drilled and motivated and reinforced with players from Launceston, walked away with the tie in convincing manner.
The first few minutes were a forward tussle, with neither team dominating. Tavistock soon recognised that they had superiority in the backs and within a spell of 10 minutes Lauren Dawe at centre, broke away and outflanked the Wellington backs three times to score and Lucy Jones converted to make the score 17-0.
A couple of minutes from half time, Lauren Dawe was tackled at full pace close to the touch line. The ball was quickly recycled out along the line, with full back Lizzie Crocke collecting the ball in the centre of the field, to touch down.
The second half was totally dominated by Tavistock, with replacement backs Lily Paine and Fenella Eastaugh running with pace and strength at the Wellington backs. Lilly Hilson was rock-solid in defence. But it was the turn of the Tavistock forwards to show their strength. Beth Hodgekiss at loose head scored, followed by another by hooker Avril Trehare taking Tavistock out of sight. Lauren Dawe came on again in the dying minutes to score again.
Fia David, at number eight, showed strength, power and great ball skills. Captain, Kim Upcott looking fit and strong led by example.
This was a powerful Tavistock performance.

TAVISTOCK extended their winning streak in an exciting home match against Bude. The game got off to a flying start, with turnovers on both sides keeping the teams and supporters on their toes. Their efforts gave Will Paull allowed to run the length of the pitch to score again, though again Bude replied within minutes. South Molton U13s 12
SOUTH Molton did not have a full team so Okehampton players Alex Browne, Paul Roth, Alex Muir and Daniel Thorne volunteered to turn out for the opposition. It was Oke who started the strongest, the backs showing good passing skills found William James on the wing who powered through for his first try of the season. Oke continued to spread the ball wide and Daniel Thorne was the next to score from a good angled run. After which some good pressure from Okehampton they found themselves with a scrum on the opposition's five metre line, scrum half Tom Bailey scooped the ball up from the base and stretched for the line. The rest of the half continued in the same manner with good passing and interlinking play. Further tries for Oke came from Liam Pyle and William James for his second.
The second half saw South Molton playing down the slope their forwards beginning to control the scrums and put pressure on the home side. Oke began to panic, however Johnny King and Daniel Thorne touched down to keep the score ticking over. The last five minutes was all South Molton. Daniel Thorne, playing for the opposition, scored against his own side and the visiting prop made a thunderous run down the wing to score.

Okehampton U12s 14
AFTER a defeat last week, Okehampton produced a fine second half performance to gain a creditable draw against a big Launceston side who have swept many before them this season. Oke stared sluggishly and were soon behind after the All Blacks number eight rumbled over from short range. Despite having the slope advantage in the first period, the Oke boys were struggling to get out of their own half. Player of the match Jack Chapman put in some fine hits on the wing but the Okes were mainly defending throughout the first 20.
Launceston rumbled over again at the beginning of the second half and things looked bleak. Suddenly though The Okes began to produce some fluent phases of play. Oke fought their way back with a fine try from winger Ebby Vallance. Leon Horn adding the conversion to reduce the arrears to seven. Then, after having a good try disallowed, Oke came again and Leon Horn produced a superb solo try. He added the conversion to tie things up and Oke had pouched a well deserved draw.
Full credit to the Oke squad.

LAUNCESTON applied pressure from the off and Okehampton were slow to respond. The visitors did not really come close to the Launceston try line in the early part of the match and missed tackles and poor handling from Oke meant the home side were three tries up by half time.
In the second half Oke began to get into the play more and good runs from Daniel, Will and Nathan put pressure on the Launceston defence. The Oke pack drove the ball forward on several occasions but they were still unable to convert this into points. Okes persistence paid off – a tap penalty provided possession for Nathan T and he touched down for Oke to get on the scoresheet. This was followed by a strong scrum from Oke, resulting in a second try, scored by Tom S. This was a difficult game that stretched Oke but in the second half they responded to this challenge.
Oke tries: Nathan Tomkins, Tom Stevens; conversions: Nathan Tomkins, James McCulloch

TAVISTOCK dominated the first half with both forwards and backs getting in quickly over the ball creating great possession. Henry Varndell –Dawes opened the scoring for Tavistock after some patient phase work from Harry Richardson, Jack Bellamy and Cameron Georgel, combined with some good work behind the rucks from Dan Pett. Two more tries form Noah Berridge pushed them ahead, but OPMs rallied to pull one back. However a great run down the wing from Ollie Sampson for Tavistock made it 20-5 at half time.
OPMs came out fighting in the second half and held Tavitock at bay much more successfully and Tavy had to work hard for their two more tries from Harry Richardson and Henry Varndell-Dawe. This was a ferocious half and a scoreline that belied the energy and effort put in by the OPM team.

EDWARD Luke was Okehampton's captain for the day as his team got off to a good start.
Theodore Jackson-Clist and Dillon Nicholas made some good breaks, but the Launceston team were a well drilled side and shut down much of the Okehampton attack.
Despite the dry and fine conditions that were perfect for running rugby, the game came down to an arm wrestle of tight mauling and close and determined defence. Launceston were the first to score through some slick handling but Oke replied quickly through a strong run and try from Tom Chapman.
After the half time break the war of attrition continued and Jay Jenkins, Charlie Jarvis and Oliver Johns all shone in defence but it was Launceston who again broke the deadlock. Oke continued to chip away at the Launceston defensive line but to no avail. Launceston scored again before the end, despite a valiant effort from the Okes.

OPM U8s 8 tries
TAVISTOCK used the ball well, making some good passing moves and scoring some good tries but defensively they were initially slow in the tag as OPM capitalised to score a number of easy tries.
This improved dramatically in the second half and Tavistock reached sevem tags on a number of occasions to achieve turn overs to deservedly win. Most impressive though was the fact that Tavistock did not drop a pass showing that their hard training is paying off. Captain Jonathan Griffiths was player man of the match with six tries.

To prevent the opposition from steaming ahead Grady, Saul and William gave a master class in tagging. Great teamwork resulted in four other tries for Oke by Saul, William (2) and Archie S.

AN improved effort in the tagging department by Launceston was not enough to prevent the Oke lads from showing their dominance. With some nifty hip movements Grady steamed over the line to score four tries in the first half, backed up by Shea, Josh and Adam who scored one a piece.
Good tagging from Grady, Ben, Kia and William prevented the Home team from scoring. Second half tries were scored for Oke by Saul (3), Kia and William and Josh Cook scoreing his first ever try.
The young Okes growing use of teamwork resulted in a much improved performance.
