Okehampton College student Naomi Jackson has achieved a place in the prestigious English National Junior Masters Table Tennis tournament to be held this weekend in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
The English Table Tennis Association said the event has attracted 'the crème de la crème of English U18 table tennis' to battle it out for the top honours.
It will pitch the top 12 ranked English junior girls (plus two wildcard entries) against each other to compete for the coveted title of English Junior Master.
Naomi, a Okehampton table tennis club member, said: 'Last year I was ranked as England number 17 junior and knew I had to compete in England ranking tournaments to improve my national ranking and achieve my goal of a place in the Masters. Following competitions in Crawley, Stockton-on-Tees, Hatfield, Southampton, Grantham and a weekend in Wolverhampton playing in the Junior British League premier division I have now moved up to No. 11 in the England ranking list which saw me qualify automatically for the Masters.'
Naomi said she is indebted to those individuals and organisations locally who have sponsored and helped her.
The Masters is played in front of the England National Team selectors and Naomi hopes that her performances will do justice to all the hard work and training she has put in.
Naomi is a member of the Okehampton Table Tennis Club and has benefited from the excellent local facilities and training offered there for young people.
