North Okes U15s 14

FOLLOWING their successful tour to Bath a couple of weeks ago where North Okes U15s achieved great wins against Minety and Corsham, this was their last game of the season. In atrocious conditions on Sunday morning at North Tawton, the pitch resembled a paddy field rather than a rugby field.

With a gale blowing and the rain not letting up at all North Okes were finding it difficult to hold on to the ball. The forwards of Charlie Goldsworthy, George Courtier, Will Bedford, Charlie White, Richie Hann, Ryan Gross, Tom Pengelly and Dan Vinnicombe worked hard to gain the ball but pressured well and their strength in the scrums showed in all the balls that they won.

It was some good handling that gave Angus the first try and Jack Davey did well to covert to give the North Okes the lead. Exeter Chiefs fought back to score a try, which was unconverted. A penalty followed for the Chiefs to give them the lead.

The home side were determined to regain the lead. The backs of Oli Francis, Rhys Palmer, Frank Smith, Liam Mitchell, Conor Stevens, Ben Sharp and Declan Coyle showed great discipline to gain ground. This resulted in a race to the touchline to allow Richie Hann to score, which Jack duly converting to restore the North Okes the lead.

The home team held on to win to end a great season, showing their improvement and confidence growing each week.
