IN division one Milton Abbot were at home to a really strong Okehampton A side.
Michael Blatchford was unlucky in the first, narrowly losing to John Squire 10-12 in the fifth leg. Milton Abbot had two competitors playing their first match, young Tom Doidge and Ian Osborne. John, Steve Tyler and Steve Madge went on to win the next eight singles and the doubles for their first 10-0 win.
In the next match, leaders Tavistock were at home to Horrabridge A who had a reserve from division two, David Stewart. Horrabridge went 1-0 ahead when John Stewart beat Peter Hicks 13-11 in the fourth leg. Tavistock then stepped up a gear winning the next eight singles. Mark Bennett and Roger Bowkett scored maximums and then won the doubles against John and David for a 9-1 win for Tavistock.
In division two the young team of Okehampton E were at home to Gunnislake in a hard fought match. Gunnislake proved too experienced for the E side, winning the first eight singles.
Aiden Frew-Smith beat Michael Alexander 16-14 in the third leg. Mike Kinger and Jack Flockton won the doubles against Aiden and Eli Holt for a 9-1 win for Gunnislake.
In the next match the young team of Milton Abbot B hosted Anchorage A. Tom Doidge won the first against the experienced Colin Brooker, 11-7 13-11. Malcolm Hopkins won against George Anderson. Colin Jones won the next against ten year old Angharod Beman before Angharad won against Colin Brooker 13-11 8-11 11-8. Malcolm Hopkins won the last singles and Anchorage won the doubles for an 8-2 win.
Okehampton C took on the more experienced Okehampton B in division one. Zoe Bennett put the B side 1-0 ahead in the first singles against Josh Parsons. Emily Haskell did well in the next to beat Nick Jackson in four legs. Cameron Brooking beat Roni Gallardo and Emily won her second against Zoe to put the C side 3-1 ahead.
Josh won the next against Roni, then Nick beat Cameron to make it 4-2 to the C side. Emily completed her maximum against Roni. Emily and Cameron won the doubles against Zoe and Nick to complete a convincing 7-3 win for Okehampton C.
Okehampton D hosted Horrabridge B in the next match. Jill Northey took Frank Cockburn to five legs, losing 12-10 in the fifth leg. Okehampton went on to win the next eight singles and the doubles for a 10-0 win. Frank, Luke Bennett and Mark Baldwin all scored maximums.
The last division two match was Horrabridge B at home against Moretonhampstead. The visitors won the first four singles before James Emony beat Paul Brody to pull one back for Horrabridge. David May won his second against Sue Blatchley.
In a hard fought match Jill Northey beat Paul before Ken Underhill and David completed their maximums against Sue and James. Ken and David won the doubles for an 8-2 win for Moretonhampstead.
