DURING the weekend Okehampton and Launceston Golf Clubs held the Two Castles Challenge.
This was a four ball better ball competition which proved to be both popular and exciting and culminated in the prize giving at Okehampton Golf Club.
The winners of the scratch (36 holes) were Scott and Lester Pym (Torquay) with 70 points and in second with 67pts were Paul Prouse and Barry Down (Okehampton).
The overall winners of the handicap (36 Holes) were Andy and Lewis Parry (Okehampton) with 85pts; in second were P Kendall and D Sharpe (Launceston) with 79pts on the back 18 from, in third, Bob and Marcia Callett (Okehampton).
The winners of the mixed (36 holes) were Allen and Penny Deakin (Okehampton) with 74pts closely followed into second by David and Sue Williams (Okehampton) with 73pts.
The winners of the single sex (36 holes) were Nick Redman (Bovey Castle) and Alan Stokes (Okehampton) with 79pts and in second with 78pts were Kevin Cornwall and Alan Searle (Okehampton).
The winners of the scratch (18 holes) at Okehampton were Paul Ham and T Kimpton (Exminster) with 32pts and the winners of the handicap (18 holes) at Okehampton were Rod Milsom-Smith and Colin Beardwell (Okehampton) with 42pts.
Best scratch (18 holes) at Launceston went to R Metherall and A Crossland (Holsworthy) with 34pts and best handicap (18 holes) at Launceston went to Roger Halliday and Norman Heslop (Okehampton) with 41pts.
On Wednesday the ladies' section played a three ball Bowmaker qualifier; the winners with 85points were Maggie Caws, Elaine Marwood and Francis Harbron and in second place with 80 points were Sylvie Gowers, Michelle Widdows and Sue Williams.
