OKEHAMPTON U15s rugby team enjoyed their tour last weekend, playing games at Marlborough and Weston Super Mare

Against Marlborough RFC U15s the game in Wiltshire was well contested with no side really giving anything away in the icy cold conditions.

An interception when Oke were just yards short of the Marlborough try line saw them run the full length of the pitch to dot down the first score. Jake Shinn opened the visitors' account with his first try in five years, swiftly followed up by a second ten minutes later. Marlborough came back with a second try, but the game was closed out by Jacob Horn who touched down again to give Okehampton a 15-10 win.

Against Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, Okehampton U15s probably the best rugby they have played all season. The touring team were fast around the field, quick to the breakdown and drove the opposition off at the scrum on more than one occasion.

Weston however scored two tries to go 12 points clear before Oke started to roll. Jack Piper finished off a move to touch down and cut the deficit, quickly followed by an great run from captain Pat Ewen to pull the match back  to  only two points difference. Tom Strawbridge finished off yet another great move to put Oke 15-12 up by half time.

In the second half the speed of Oke started to tell with tries from Jake Shinn, Jacob Horn and Reece Peacock before Weston replied as the visitors ran out 32-22 winners.

Tour mascot Felicity the flamingo was left by the lads at the Taw River Inn, their team sponsor.

This was a great tour and finish to the season for Okehampton U15s who thank Andy Dennis, Ian Strawbridge and Mark Curtis for training them this year.
