THE Okehampton Smallbore Club's pistol A and B teams have had a remarkable joint triumph in the Devon County Winter League competition this season.

After 10 rounds shot over the winter months at the 20 yards indoor range at the Club, the Pistol A Team of Georgina Geike, Phil Sambles and Vince Floyd in division two shot a total aggregate of 5,040 points to put them well ahead by 17 points. The club's Pistol B team of Bernard Rendle, Peter Paterson, Jason Ponsford with sub Paul Batten also won their division three. For both the A and B teams to win their respective Divisions of the Devon Winter League is a really great result for the Okehampton Club.

The OSC is also victorious in one of their prone rifle team competitions, with the A team of Paul Batten, Martin Elliott and John Chiverton winning division two of the National Middlesex Time Limit competition.

This competition was of 10 rounds shot at 25 yards on their home indoor range, and each round consists of the competitors shooting a 'time limit' card, which is a standard target of 10 shots but shot in just 90 seconds; they then fire at a 'Skirmish' card shot in 60 seconds; the scores are then added together. Out of ten rounds, the Middlesex A team won nine rounds; however, individually Paul Batten had a wonderful result, as he was second nationally, out of 68 competitors, by just one point, scoring 1,113 — a long way ahead of the 1,096 points in third. Paul was so close to being the national individual winner!

The OSC's Middlesex B Team of Richard Miles, Chris Short and Amanda Elliott came second in their division three. This was an excellent result for this team, as each competitor had never entered this competition before.
