Okehampton Argyle 0

Exeter Civil Service 0

OKEHAMPTON continue unbeaten at home this season but the visitors reduced to 10 men for the last hour, comfortably held the home side to a goalless draw.

This was not a game for the purists as both sides struggled to create many worthwhile chances. It was a lively but scrappy game and quite bad tempered in the first half with the visitors picking up three yellow cards and Luke Alden also going into the book for the home side. Civil's Aiden Barrett was dismissed on the half hour for his second yellow card after a rash tackle on Alden from behind.

Okehampton had scored eight goals in their previous two home games but were unable to make one clear chance and Civil's keeper Gibbons did not have a save to make in the whole game. It was the same at the other end with the visiting team reduced to a couple of long distance and wayward shots which did not trouble Gearing in the Oke goal.

Probably the best two chances for Argyle fell to Steve Kinsey and Alex Wren but both put their shots wide of the target.

Both defences were in commanding and uncompromising form and home players Dale Chadwick and Matt Mortimer had outstanding games at the back.

Wren and Ed Squires both played well in the middle but neither was able to create much for the forwards. Luke Alden had another eye catching game with some superb dribbling but was unable to provide the final ball that might have resulted in a goal. Again he looked as though he had another penalty appeal turned down in extra time when a Civil defender appeared to pull his shirt.

Argyle had lost 4-2 to Civil a couple of weeks ago so on paper this was an improved performance. They did not allow themselves to be intimidated by some stiff tackling from the visitors but again some poor possession and passing prevented any flowing football and they were unable to make effective use of the extra man for most of the game.

Man of the match for Argyle was Matt Mortimer.
