Okehampton ladies’ firsts 4
Dawlish ladies 1
OKEHAMPTON set off on a blustery day with the bare eleven to play bottom of the league Dawlish.
As usual Okehampton put pressure on the home side right from the off, but despite a flurry of chances were unable to find the net.
The visitors battled on, determined to find their feet and keep possession on the challenging surface. Jo Moppett broke the deadlock, skilfully rounding the Dawlish defence and striking the ball home to get Oke on the scoreboard.
Okehampton began to find their rhythm, with flowing passes and good team play resulting in a successfully converted rebound goal from Annebelle Rademaker.
Dawlish earnt a spell of short corners but the Oke defence, led by Carol Taylor and keeper Alice Wiseman, successfully defended their goal, distributing the ball wide to defender Ailsa Gibb to gain ground in the midfield.
Moppet rounded the keeper to score again before the break to make the tally 3-0 at half time.
Laura Parsons and Louise Weller made key tackles in the midfield, working well with wide players Anna Speak and Sophia Marshall to drive the ball up to forward Hannah Whiteley, feeding the ball to Moppet who netted her third of the day.
Despite player of the match Sophie Whiteley’s best efforts Dawlish snatched a late goal to leave the final score at 4-1.
