OKEHAMPTON?is to host its inaugural cyclo cross event on July 30 for people of all ages.

The Hairy Hands Summer Cyclo Cross is to be held at OCRA Pavilion in Okehampton on Saturday, July 30, organised by Tavistock Wheelers and OCRA.

Stuart Lord from OCRA said: ‘We have a great course with variable terrain in a stunning setting.

‘We are keen to attract experienced cyclo cross riders as well as people of all ages wanting a different challenge and to try something new, whatever type of bike you have.’

The exciting sport includes skinny tyres, mud, short, sharp off-road races, with hurdles, obstacles and intense action.

Cyclo-cross is a form of off-road racing that predates mountain biking by decades and is also one of the most accessible forms of cycle sport with racing for everyone from young kids to grandmothers.

The South West Cyclo-Cross League begins in September.
