ON Sunday, September 11, Okehampton Otters took 23 swimmers to Exeter sprint meet to compete in their annual swimming competition.

The Otters achieved two gold, two silver and two bronze medals along with several personal best times. In an extremely impressive show of form, five of these medals were won by Ellie Shayler. Points were also awarded for each individual race and the Otters were delighted that Ellie achieved second girl overall.

Head coach David Dennis said that all the swimmers taking part had a wonderful day and that their support for each other was amazing.

The standard of swimming during the day was very high and the Otter’s took this challenge on and showed what they could do.

David feels that to have come back with five more medals than the club achieved last year is amazing and shows they are going in the right direction. He said well done to everyone who took part.

On the same day, Okehampton Otters were also represented in the senior and master competition for Devon at Tiverton. With just one swimmer going for the Otters in this competition, Jessica James managed to achieve three golds and two silver medals.
