ON Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club in autumnal temperatures a four ball better ball Stableford competition was held for the Winter Trophy.

Division one was a closely fought contest with the top three pairs all attaining 42 points. After countback the winners of division one and the Winter Trophy were Rob Camies and Nick Godfrey; in second were Gareth Holt and Graham Mitchell and third place went to Matt Mills and Mike Hern.

Division two was also a close battle, but after countback first place went to Reg Prescott and Alan Jeffery with 42pts on the back nine from, in second, Mark Curtis and Fred Scott-Lawson; in third place with 41pts were Kerry Skinner and Ray Grey.

Three clubs and a putter was the format of the day for the ladies' competition on Wednesday. The winner, way out in front with 35pts, was Marcia Jones. In second with 30pts was Lin Atkinson closely followed by Jane Warren who was third with 29pts.
