North Tawton 99
St Columba and Torpoint 7
SAINT Columba Torpoint arrived at Taw Meadows with a bare 14 players.
After a ‘week off’ North Tawton were looking forward to playing some rugby and play they did; the opposition might not have been the strongest they have faced all season but a 15 try ‘fest’ told its own story; it was a hiding in every sense.
However, for all that, Columba never gave up trying and kept making their tackles but they had no answer to the home side who were chasing as many point as they could muster as the league situation is so tight – with three teams fighting for two promotion places that fore and against points could be the decider.
North Tawton scored 15 tries – Alex and Matty Dennis had two a piece, M Baker, Si Quick Bill Sharp Ryan Goss and Graham Sage all chipping in with one each then Conner Mathis with a hat trick. Man of the match was James Bowden who not only scored a hat trick of tries but converted 12 of the 15 kicks he took at the posts giving him a personal total of 39 points for the day.
