Okehampton U13s 5
Minchinhampton U13s 45
OKEHAMPTON played two matches at home this week, the first against tourers Minchinhampton, who proved a lot more alert than their hosts, scoring two tries in the first five minutes and dominating the possession throughout to finish in the lead.
Oke’s efforts to defend were substantial, with some superb teamwork and tackles, especially from Will, who set the bar for aggressive contact for Isaac, Alfie and Harry to follow suit with some staunch charges and defiant mauls.
Adam scored the one try for Oke. There was an excellent passage of play from Okehampton after Minchinhampton’s eighth, as René tackled, Will kept up the pressure and the visitors were pushed out. Then Alfie had a storming run, along with Sam and Lachs; there was good passing between Morgan and Alfie, another run and an excellent ruck from Will, who was well supported by Alfie.
Oke fired-up the pace in the final three minutes and never gave up to the final whistle.

Bideford U13s 20
THIS was an exciting game. Although Bideford notched-up the first try, the Okes retaliated early on, with some good tackling from Adam, Harry and Isaac and tidy passing sequences between Marcus, René, Tom and Luca.
Good rucking from Will to René, who flourished the ball sideways over his head to Harry, kept the ball driving forwards and eventually into the capable hands of Lachs who touched down Oke’s first.
Okes were all revved-up for victory and great teamplay followed, as they clocked-up a respectable score with tries from Lachs, Tom (2), Ethan (2) and Marcus.
Okehampton came close to scoring three more, from Os (tackled on the tryline), Harry (misplaced his foot into touch) and Luca, who broke away with the ball in the second half and steamed along the touchline before getting pushed out, five metres from the tryline.
This was a satisfying result for Oke, nevertheless, with some top-class teamwork. Will Timms was this week’s man-of-the-week for his consistent aggression, top tackling and tight rucking.

Tavistock U12s 5
IT was beautiful weather at Elburton this Sunday for Tavistock Under 12’s against Old Plymouth Mannameadians. Unfortunately the weather was the only thing on the Tavistock’s side. A much depleted team meant Tavistock needed to borrow some players from the home team.
The first half was not an encouraging one for the visitors , with OPM showing off some superlative passing skills and capitalising on some Tavistock errors. The home team managed to score five tries over the line by the end of the first half, with Tavistock yet to trouble the scoresheet.
The second half proved more promising with some strong tackling from Christopher, Matthew and Luke, with Callum and Brandon providing some great breaks through the defensive line. Eventually they were rewarded with a try from Brandon. But the hope was short lived as OPM continued to rack up the tries, and injuries further added to Tavistock woes.
