THIS year the three cricket clubs of Lewdown, Hatherleigh and Chagford held an Inter Primary School Cricket competition called The Dartmoor Cup, sponsored by Bovey Castle.

Twenty teams played a day of cricket in May for the first round and from there were invited to play for either the Hatherleigh Trophy, the Lewdown Shield or the Chagford Cup.

Due to bad weather the teams were unable to play the finals day and instead had a bowl-off. Lydford's team played for the Lewdown Shield and came first of six teams when four of their team bowled out the stumps.

Chris Mount came to the school to present the team with their shield.
