ON Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club in beautiful spring sunshine an individual medal competition was held.
The winner of division one was Jerry Lock with a gross score of 74 net 62 on the back nine from, in second Kevin Cornwall. Third place was taken by Paul Rattenbury with a net 64.
Division two was won by club president Ted Boswell who shot a gross 76 net 61 at the tender age of 78 —an incredible feat. Second position went to Alex Green with a net score of 64 and third with a net 65 after count back was Alan Jones.
Division three was won by Stephen Tonge with a net 64 on the back nine from, in second Phillip Hawking. Steve Latham was third with a net 65.
On Sunday it was the start of open competitions. The mixed four ball better ball team competition was contested by no fewer than 20 different clubs.
The overall winners were Mr and Mrs B Newman, Karen Major and Keith Chapman from Stover and Teign Valley with 78pts; second went to Del Nash, Carol Skpyzpczak, Chris Hurley and Kim Mundy from Okehampton, Holsworthy and Perranporth. Best combination prize was won by Steven Hurn and Kath Shiells from Bristol and Derek Ellis and Doris Jewell from Okehampton with 77pts.
