Okehampton ladies’ seconds 2
Torbay ladies 3
OKEHAMPTON seconds had an unfortunate loss to Torbay two this Saturday but undoubtedly had one of their best-played games yet.
Beginning with a rocky start as the opposition scored their first two goals, the Okehampton side fought back and the ball was in the control of the home side for the rest of the half.
With some excellent running on either side of the pitch by Alex Collins and captain Emma Wiseman, the ball was manoeuvred into the D where Alex Collins neatly slotted it into the back of the net.
A second goal came shortly after again from Alex Collins; with tight marking from the defence it kept the opposition at bay so that midfield players Viv Weatherington and Anna Speak could transfer the ball back up the pitch.
Starting the second half in high spirits, the Okehampton ladies passed the ball swiftly between them in an attempt to score more goals. Despite some great saves by goalkeeper Lucy Wiseman, the numerous short corners led to a third and final goal to Torbay.
Okehampton still did not give up and some good hits down the pitch by Hannah Hawes set some close goal-scoring opportunities.
Despite the loss, Oke seconds team finished on a positive note, knowing they had played their best. Oke player of the match was Tilly Dixon.
