South Zeal Utd 1
Crediton 3
THIS was Zeal's second league defeat of the season, and as the first, was undeserved as high riding Crediton stole all three points on Saturday.
Crediton were the better team in the first half and took the lead after 20 minutes when a mix up on the right hand side of the Zeal defence allowed one of the visitors strikers to score from the edge of the goal area, Reg Wonnacott in the Zeal goal got a hand to the shot but unluckily pushed the ball into the side of the net.
Zeal were much the better side in the second half as the Crediton goal lead a charmed life with Harley Cann, Darren Gilbert and Scott Hooper all going close and it looked as though Zeal would equalise when they were awarded a penalty 20 minutes from time but the luck was with the visitors as Phil Evans well taken penalty struck the post and bounced to safety.
Zeal always looked as if they could score but Crediton went two up when one of their forwards charged down a clearance and tapped an easy chance into an empty net.
The home side never gave up and with ten minutes left Harley Cann was put through by Stuart Entwistle who beat two defenders before finishing well into the far corner.
Zeal now pushed on for an equaliser but Crediton broke and scored a simple goal to take all three points just minutes before the final whistle.
Next week Zeal are home to University KO 2-15pm.
