POLICE officers last week welcomed three police sniffer dogs to Okehampton.

Deedee and handler Devon and Cornwall officer Andy Ronayne, and Ajax with handler Dorset Police’s Dave Campbell, pictured right, were at Okehampton Police Station for training earlier in the week.

On Friday, police handler Si and his police dog Bob, who are based in north Devon, joined officers from Okehampton to carry out a search of Simmons Park and the perimeter of Okehampton Community College to search for possible drug stashes.

‘This work was done in partnership with the college and is part of an ongoing strategy to keep people safe and remove drugs from the community wherever we can,’ said Sgt Pennie Channing, who leads the neighbourhood team at Okehampton and Tavistock Police Stations. ‘No drugs were found.’
