EXCITED spectators and participants packed the streets of Okehampton on Saturday as the carnival took over the town centre.
A spectacular day of fun was had by young and old alike. Activities ran throughout the day, kicking off with the annual coffee morning in the Charter Hall.
The hall was later filled with dozens of children taking part in the fancy dress competition, wearing colourful and inventive costumes that impressed the judges.
Youngsters took part in the children's procession in the afternoon, and the main procession made its way around the town's streets during the evening.
Mayor of Okehampton Cllr the Rev Mike Davies crowned the carnival royalty, including prince and princess Harrison Rushton and Miya Porter.
As well as the procession, spectators also got to enjoy street entertainment from theatre group Entertainingly Different.
Town mayor Cllr Davies said: 'Last weekend Okehampton truly enjoyed a wonderful carnival with many terrific entries in both the afternoon and evening parades.'
The carnival committee expressed their thanks to everyone who support the event and are currently in the process of counting the money raised by the day's events.
