Broadwoodkelly Village Hall is to get £1,000 towards the cost of its new lightweight, portable staging from Devon County Council's West Devon County Committee. The eight county committees have budgets from which committee members can allocate grants to local community groups or projects which will make a big difference to people's lives, in line with the council's strategic plan. The proposal to meet part of the cost of the staging was put forward by Hatherleigh and Chagford Cllr James McInnes, who said: 'I'm very pleased to be able to support this project. 'The portable stage will make such a difference to community events in the hall and be far safer than the current arrangements.'
