TOWN councillor and current deputy mayor Paul Vachon has been chosen to be the new mayor of Okehampton by the town council at their annual general meeting. The town's deputy mayor will be Cllr Jan Goffey. The chair and vice chairs of the policy and resources, parks, planning and property committees have also been chosen. Cllr Maureen McDonald will chair the policy and resources committee, with Cllr Charles Letchford as vice chair. Cllr Christine Marsh will chair the parks committee, with Cllr Kevin Ball as vice chair. The property committee will be chaired by new deputy mayor Cllr Jan Goffey, with Cllr Julie Yelland as vice chair, while the Cllr Tony Leech is chair of planning and Cllr Terry Cummings is vice chair. The civic ceremony of mayor choosing took place yesterday, Wednesday, May 14.
