A GROUP of Porsche 911s with a value of nearly £2-million called in for a coffee break at the Crossways Inn at Folly Gate last Saturday.
‘It was a wonderful sight to see them all in our car park and it certainly created a lot of local interest,’ said pub landlord David Burgess.
The cars belong to members of the Porsche Club GB on an organised spring trip to the West Country for the purpose of admiring the scenery and driving some of our local highways and byways.
Event co-organiser Clive White said: ‘We get applications from members over the country, but logistics dictate we can only take a small number of around 15 cars. I live in North Devon myself and I know it’s of great benefit to our region and local businesses to bring people here when otherwise they might never have visited. Several have told me they would now like to return for a holiday.’
David and Kayleigh were charged with serving hot drinks to around 30 crew members and getting them on their way again in short order.
David said: ‘It’s a bit daunting when a crowd of people arrive all needing service at the same time, however we managed to get everyone fixed up with hot drinks0 and on their way again all within around half an hour.’
